Berlin Neuroscience Meeting 2026: Two days of scientific exchange

On 8 and 9 October 2026, 320 participants gathered at the LANGENBECK-VIRCHOW-HAUS for the Berlin Neuroscience Meeting (BNM). Organized jointly by the Cluster of Excellence NeuroCure and the Einstein Center for Neurosciences Berlin, this annual meeting brings together neuroscientists from all career stages to present their latest research, exchange ideas and connect with colleagues from across the field.

A diverse scientific program

The scientific program featured four keynote lectures by internationally renowned researchers:

  • Camilla Bellone, Geneva University Neurocenter, Switzerland
  • Andrew H. Miller, Emory University School of Medicine, USA
  • Mahmoud Maina, University of Sussex, UK, and the Maina Lab at the Biomedical Science Research and Training Centre (BioRTC), Yobe State University, Nigeria
  • Christopher Ford, University of Colorado School of Medicine, USA

Alongside the keynote lectures, the program included numerous talks in four thematic panels covering a broad range of topics, from clinical and translational neuroscience to networks and systems neuroscience, cellular and molecular neuroscience, and global perspectives.

The meeting also featured poster sessions on both days, with more than 60 posters presented each day. Participants had the opportunity to share their latest findings, discuss their research and connect with colleagues.

Poster prizes were awarded on Friday, recognizing outstanding contributions.

Poster Prize Winners:

Robert Hülse

Supporting the next generation of neuroscientists worldwide

A special part of this year’s program was the participation of ten candidates from NeuroCure’s International Program for Visiting, Training & Exchange (InViTE).

The program aims to strengthen global neuroscience exchange and collaboration by fostering scientific interactions between Berlin neuroscientists and early career researchers from Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia.

During the meeting, the ten candidates presented their research and introduced projects they would like to pursue in collaboration with NeuroCure researchers. Selected candidates will join NeuroCure in 2027 for a one-year research stay in a host laboratory with the possibility of a two-year extension. The program will give participants the opportunity to gain research experience, develop new scientific collaborations and strengthen international connections in neuroscience.

The BNM was initiated in 2016 alongside the establishment of the Einstein Center for Neurosciences Berlin, with the first meeting taking place in October 2017. Since then, it has become an established event for Berlin’s neuroscience community, offering opportunities for scientific exchange between early career researchers, established scientists and internationally renowned speakers.
